Administration > Business Office > Personnel/Payroll > Student Assistant Employees Continuing a Student's Employment at the End of the Academic Year In May of each year, the Business Office sends each supervisor a list of their student employees, asking if the students' employment should be extended or ended. To continue a student's employment into the upcoming academic year, the supervisor should provide the new funding end date and FOAPAL next to the employee's name. The continuing student does not need to sign new employment forms. If employment is ending, a check is made in the "End" column, and the students' last day of work is provided. Students who do not expect to work on campus again should contact their Payroll/Personnel Representative to receive information about the return of any FICA/Retirement funds they may have contributed. (See Separation for more information).WORK STUDY STUDENTS Work study students who are continuing will be extended on a non-work study basis, effective the day after finals in June. If they are working beyond the summer quarter, in the fall the student needs to apply again to get a new Hiring Authorization Form (HAF) indicating a work/study award. The student must sign the new HAF and it to the Business Office before the work study program can be charged.
